5-days work a week

Two organizations representing management and trade unions are squabbling over worker benefits. The Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU), one of the two major trade unions, made a statement on Thursday that the reduction of working days is irrelevant without guaranteeing current pay levels with the current number of working holidays (holidays interchangeable for pay).
The Korea Employers Federation (KEF), the voice representing the interests of management, countered that this position is irresponsible because the reduction of working days to five days per week (from 44 to 40 hours) naturally involves a reduction of monthly and yearly allotted working holidays.
The Federation of Korean Trade Unions is against a reduction of working holidays, but should the days be cut they are demanding that the existing pay for working on the current number of holidays be maintained.
To this demand, the Korea Employers Federation said that the The Federation of Korean Trade Unions is behaving irresponsible and is not fit to call itself an official union as they are not making any realistic sacrifices on their part.
To this reply, The Federation of Korean Trade Unions announced that next year, in solidarity with the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), the other major union, they will demand five days per week of work with a zero reduction in current working holidays or pay.
Hence, the Korea Employers Federation is demanding a cut in the number of working holidays for which the employees have to be paid in order to ensure competitive production.
In conclusion, the Federation of Korean Trade Unions is demanding that if working holidays are cut, then the status quo pay for working on holidays or holidays for which they are guaranteed pay, such as national holidays and pregnancy leave, be maintained.
The law on this change of working days and holidays and the exact monetary return due to this change has yet to be formulated between the management sector and the unions, before it is submitted to the National Assembly for passage, next year.
Q1) These days many people are asking for 5-days work a week. What do you think of that? Do you agree this policy, or not?
Q2) Let's think about the merit and demerit of 5-days work per week.
Q3) We can sometimes some employees protest their company and government. What do you think of the reason? And what do you think is the biggest problem of employees in Korea?
Q4) What is necessary for developing our labor circumstance? Tell us your opinion freely!
