Hi, members! How is your vacation going? Are you having a part time job during this vacation? If so, what kind of job are you doing? Today's topic is "Private Tutoring". Many members of Pioneer might have an experience of teaching students as a private tutor. A lot of university students have been doing that, tutoring, as one of their part time jobs. And of course, some of you might have been taught from your private tutor when you were highschool or middle school students.
Private tutoring is increasing every year. This is a very popular and usual part time job for students in universities. One of the unfortunate side effects of Korea's highly competitive college entrance exam has been the opportunity for some tutoring practices to develop. Private tutoring developed as big business in Korea because of the college entrance exam. Nowadays, We can see many advertisements of companies, which are associated with tutoring, to want students to teach and to be taught in apartments or public places even in public rest rooms easily. The classes for tutoring are so diverse that the tutors teach art, music, and even dance, let alone English and mathematics. Actually many university students choose tutoring as their part time job. They do that not only just for earning money but also for their good experience.
Of course, private tutoring doesn't have good things only. Some teachers were said to have earned as much as 10 million won or more per month giving private lessens to students desperate to get admitted to a top-ranked university. These days, even elementary school students get private tutoring of English, Art, and Music. That kind of tutoring is sometimes just for getting good marks. And there are many internet sites that present some companies doing students' homework instead of the students.
