The private photos of two celebrity anchors have been leaked onto the Internet.

Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-sok, who are both KBS anchors and are a couple, yesterday requested the police to launch an investigation into the distribution of their private photographs on the Internet. They are also considering a filing lawsuit against media companies that have distributed the photos on their Web sites.

About 50 photographs showing private lives of the couple were first uploaded on early Sunday by an anonymous user at DC Inside, a major Internet portal site. As soon as the photographs were uploaded on the Web site, the pictures were rapidly spread on the Internet through P2P (peer to peer service), MSN messengers and blogs.

The photographs were originally posted on Choi’s personal blog at Cyworld in private, not open to others. Cyworld is the nation’s top social networking site operated by SK Telecommunications. The illegally leaked photographs mostly feature the relationship between the couple including some taken in bed.

SK Telecommunications said that there were no traces of an illegal hacking program regarding the leaked photographs. We have checked the system but found no evidence to show that Choi’s blog was attacked by a hacker. According to our investigation up to now, we assume that someone who knew the password of Choi’s blog secretly got access to it and copied the photographs. The culprit must be an acquaintance or it is also possible that Choi’s password is easy to guess,’’ said an SK Telecommunications official.

Cho Keon-jin, the head of the anchor department at KBS, said the incident has defamed both anchors and is a serious invasion of privacy. The two requested an investigation at Yeongdungpo Police Station and the cyber investigation unit at Seoul Police Station on early Monday,’’ he said. ``We all know that the two people are in a romantic relationship and I hope that this incident will not ruin their relationship or careers. Although they may go through hardship at this moment, they will keep hosting the TV shows that they are currently in charge of.’’

This is not the first time that private photos of celebrities have been leaked by anonymous users from their Internet blogs. Anonymous Internet users got access to the actress Ahn Hye-kyung’s mini hompy last year and erased all of her 1,800 photos and revealed her cell-phone number on the Internet. Another ex-anchor Noh Hyun-jong’s private photos with her ex-boyfriend were also leaked and spread on the Internet.

Although many celebrities see their private information leaked on the Internet, most of them do not seek punishment of the hackers so as not to damage their reputations as entertainers.
